Research and development in KTV Group

KTV Group focuses on development. We are still analyzing the market and getting impulses from all over the world.

We lead the development within our industry, with a focus on quality, environment and HSE.
The management of the company is involved in the development and sees this as the most important step in gaining new customers and market areas.

We have a broad collaboration between our partners at home and abroad, and our suppliers.

Below you will find information about our current projects and at the bottom information about previous and completed projects.

The construction method for the future

Environment. The environmental impact is much lower than for traditional buildings. If emissions are calculated using the construction method and maintenance over time, greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 50%.

The environmental benefits are obvious, as the construction method is simpler and less resource-intensive, and maintenance over time is considerably reduced.

All parts of the construction can be recycled.
By rebuilding or demolition, Styrofoam from construction can be recycled into new products.

Material applied Polyurea can also be recycled into a number of new products that are cast under heat.

Costs. Construction costs are reduced by 30-40%. With good logistics, it will be possible to set up a detached house in 2 days, completely finished.

Windows are integrated into the facade without frames, which provides better thermal insulation than any other window on the market today. The cost of a window is also reduced in this way by 40%.

Transport costs are reduced by 50% to the construction site.

Insulation ability
EPS S400MX has a very good declared lambda value of 0.033 W / mK and the U-value requirement of 0.13 W / m2K will be achieved in ceilings with a thickness of approx. 250 mm. U-value requirements in floor and wall are 0.10 and 0.18, respectively. Styrobuild uses a S400MX of 350 mm in the wall and 400 mm in the ceiling and the U-value is approx. 0.094 and 0.083, respectively.

Moisture absorption. Even with prolonged immersion in water, the moisture absorption is less than 5-8% by volume. Covered with Polyurea, the moisture absorption will be equal to 0.

Aging resistance. Like concrete, Styrofoam gets stronger with time.

The material is not affected by fungi and microorganisms. Rodents and insects can not make a living from this.

Design. There are endless possibilities for tailor-made designs.

Maintenance. Maintenance over time is reduced by 80% compared to traditional construction methods.

Compressive strength. The EPS material is available in different compressive strengths so that you can choose what is right in each individual case. Long-term load / use load for EPS varies from about 2 to 12 tonnes per square meter with evenly distributed load.

Energy. In terms of energy, this solution will be superior and the best possible to achieve in relation to other construction methods.

Corrosion. Material does not corrode and does not affect corrosion of adjacent material.

Dense building. All parts of the building, walls and roof are 100% tight, as this is a membrane.
30cm EPS has the same properties as 40cm Glava.

The building will be airtight, and ventilation is 100% necessary.

Helmet technology of the future

Smartarmor is the helmet that facilitates the documentation work in the workplace, at the same time as it increases the comfort and safety for the employees.

The helmet is lighter than traditional helmets, and it fits better on the head.

The helmet has built-in active noise reduction with integrated microphones in each ear that enables conversations in very noisy environments.

Camera takes high-resolution photos and video that communicate wirelessly with the app. Possibility of video calls with camera on helmet.

Integrated combined work light, camera light and flash.

Smartarmor is a very exciting project with several challenges that must be solved before it can be released on the market.

The helmet is developed in collaboration with BlueTag.

Drones for facade cleaning

KTV Group is in the process of developing a specially built drone to be used for washing facades. Now we are going to start with a drone that will be used for washing facades and roofs, on tall buildings and high-rise blocks.

We see that the development of drones is going at an enormous pace, and already now equipment and technology that is already on the market will make this idea possible. The result will be cheaper prices for customers, and you solve tasks without the use of scaffolding, lifts or facade climbers. Thus, the solution is also very HSE-friendly.

20 years maintenance agreements

In 2009, KTV Group began developing a completely new type of maintenance agreement that was to last for 5-20 years. The intention with the agreements was up in quality and down in price for customer.

Already at the end of 2009, the concept was ready, and the first agreements came into place. It started with only external washing, but was later expanded to include all maintenance for larger buildings, tanks and facilities.

Today, the company has over 500,000 m2 of surface area in long-term agreements for up to 20 years, and is a pioneer in technology. The method is unique in a global context.

Cleaning water tunnels Bergen Vann

KTV Group went to the top in a planning and design competition under the auspices of Bergen Vann for the development of new solutions. KTV Group Oslo has won the competition. The general manager of KTV Group Oslo, Thomas Nilsen, is naturally proud to have won, and not least to be involved in designing new solutions for cleaning drinking water basins and tunnels in the mountains.

– It is very demanding to clean water tunnels. They are long and narrow and expose personnel to great risk, which also entails high costs. This competition is about designing new solutions with, among other things, elements of robot technology, says Nilsen.

Interior cleaning robot

KTV Group works actively to offer interior cleaning using robots. We are working on a project where the goal is to perform daily cleaning using robots.

The project was started in mid-2014, and tests have already been performed with very satisfactory results.

Further work is testing with customers in early 2015.

The main goal of the project is to create a total solution for the customer, where costs are reduced by 30% and quality is increased by 100%.

Fresh air mask Freshcom

For many decades, personnel have been exposed to great risk in connection with work in tanks. Fortunately, it has recently become more and more common to use fresh air and filter masks while working in such environments.

To date, visual security, which is the last security element, has not been resolved satisfactorily. That is why we are proud to introduce the Freshcom solution.

In recent years, KTV Group has been developing a fresh air mask that solves all the challenges – fresh air, video transmission, communication, integrated light and eye protection.

Our expertise in tank work has played an important role in the development of Freshcom. Not only does the mask solve problems in relation to HSE, but is also very practical as personnel working in noisy environments can communicate directly with the guard and get help if necessary.

The live transmission of the mask / video image and recording of the assignment can also be used for documentation where necessary.

SelfCleaner

KTV Group started in 2013 with development where the goal was to find a new method for cleaning facades without the use of high pressure. We started testing already in 2014, and at the beginning of 2015, KTV Group’s method Self Cleaner was ready.

Since then, over 500,000 m2 of facade has been washed with the method, with very satisfactory results. No use of high pressure and the same stress as normal rain. The best thing about the method is that in many cases it actually gave a better result than regular high-pressure washing. The method is now used as a fixed method for cleaning facades.

Nanocoating exterior concrete area

The picture shows a test where the nanocoating has been applied to a concrete area. The application of the nanocoating was done before the autumn of this year, and the goal of the nano treatment is to prevent growth and water penetration.

The picture is from a period where it has rained heavily in the test area, and the area that has been nano-treated clearly shows that the water is bouncing off.

The most startling result of the test was at low temperatures. The surface of the test site froze to ice, but the nano-treated area had no ice formation. Such a result shows that nanocoating can clearly reduce the need for salting on sidewalks, outdoor areas and the like in the future. We follow developments closely when the snow comes.

Nanocoating facades

The goal is to achieve good protection of building facades, so that high-pressure rinsing is not necessary when washing.

We have worked for several years to find the right and functional nanocoating products, where the goal has been to maintain buildings without the use of high pressure. We have been testing the method for over 2 years, and the results clearly show the benefits (see the picture above for a test area).

The project started in 2013, and finished testing in 2015. Nano-coating improves the environment, among other things by reducing NOX, and also reduces maintenance costs for customers.

Cleaning robot for mud skips

The goal is to achieve good protection of building facades, so that high-pressure rinsing is not necessary when washing.

We have worked for several years to find the right and functional nanocoating products, where the goal has been to maintain buildings without the use of high pressure. We have been testing the method for over 2 years, and the results clearly show the benefits (see the picture above for a test area).

AQ Monitor

AQ MONITOR provides 24-hour measurement / monitoring of air quality in tanks and closed rooms and is documented to the customer with direct transfers of measurements on its own website. New regulations from the Norwegian Labor Inspection Authority set strict requirements, and transfer the responsibility to the executor or safety officer.

AQ MONITOR solves all these challenges, and personnel who will be staying in these environments can feel 100% safe with this system in use.

– No individual monitors are required.
– The system also measures gases from solvents / cutting combustion.
– The costs have been reduced.
– Complete measurement history throughout the period.
– Sensors adapted to the customer’s needs.
– All measurements available live online (web).

– The robot can be controlled remotely without entering tanks.

Using a rinsing robot, we can perform rinsing on all steel without the use of scaffolding or a lift. The robot climbs on steel with the help of magnets, and can operate high pressures up to 3000 bar. It can be used on both vertical and horizontal surfaces. The robot is the result of many years of development and is particularly suitable for work such as tank washing and cleaning of ships and rigs. The robot is also used to remove surface treatment.

For tank work it is possible to control the machine from the outside, in other words a ‘No Entry System’.

For land-based tank farms, the robot solves complicated cleaning tasks without the need for scaffolding, and reduces the need for entry with personnel by about 65%. The robot is remotely controlled, it is efficient and fast and can go around curves and works just as well upside down. With the help of auto programs, maximum efficiency can be achieved, which reduces the implementation process by about 35%. It is also an environmental benefit with a saving of about 15-20% water consumption.

KTV Group is also working to further develop the robot to be able to operate underwater according to the same principle.
