KTV Group has carried out sandblasting and wet blasting of fiberglass tanks for Bia Miljø at Askøy, just outside Bergen. The work was performed to ensure the correct surface quality prior to further treatment, preparing the tanks for a new layer of fiberglass and polyester.
Low temperatures initially created challenges for the wet blasting process, but through good planning the team completed the project with solid progress and full control of the operation. The result was an even and well-prepared surface ready for the next stage.
Working inside smaller, confined tank compartments places high demands on HSE, requiring fresh air equipment, while visibility is limited and dust levels are high. By following our procedures and establishing fixed routines for regular flushing of the tank compartments and equipment during the process, the working conditions were optimized.
