KTV Group is behind the development of the KTV Working Drone, and now an international collaboration has been established with Royal Caribbean for cleaning on their newest ship, Icon of the Seas. The amazing cruise ship features a state-of-the-art cleaning system that includes drones from KTV Working Drone.
The idea for KTV Working Drone originated at KTV Group back in 2015. The goal at that time was to find an innovative and efficient way to clean facades and windows. The drone was developed, thoroughly tested, and tailored, and has been in operational use since 2020 by KTV Group. In 2022, the drone services were spun off into a separate company and further developed as KTV Working Drone. KTV Working Drone became the first company in the world to use drones in this way across various industries.
For Icon of the Seas, Royal Caribbean International desired a more efficient and secure approach to the ship’s cleaning tasks, something KTV Working Drone could provide. The aim was to minimize the risk to personnel while streamlining the cleaning process. After thorough training of the crew in Spain, the ship was ready to showcase its groundbreaking cleaning solution.
The innovative technology of the drones makes it easier to perform complex and time-consuming cleaning tasks. With four drones dedicated to monitoring and maintaining cleanliness on board, Icon of the Seas is equipped to handle the most demanding cleaning challenges. The drones will remain stationary and follow the ship as it navigates through various countries.
Feedback on this initiative has been overwhelmingly positive. Royal Caribbean is excited about the results and is already planning to incorporate the use of drones in the cleaning procedures on their other ships, both existing and future ones. The potential benefits extend not only to cruise ships alone, and KTV Working Drone has also been contacted by other companies and countries for cleaning solutions in the cargo shipping industry.
The primary focus of this collaboration is to ensure the safety of the personnel and facilitate the execution of complex cleaning tasks. By utilizing drones, Royal Caribbean aims to minimize the risks associated with manual labor while enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of its cleaning operations on ships.
The successful collaboration between KTV Working Drone and Royal Caribbean on Icon of the Seas demonstrates the cruise company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. The collaboration sets a standard for other companies in the same sector to explore new opportunities to improve cleaning techniques and enhance the overall onboard experience for passengers.
Both KTV Working Drone and Royal Caribbean International are pleased with the collaboration and look forward to future opportunities. As Icon of the Seas sets sail on its maiden voyage, it showcases the advances and possibilities in the cruise industry’s cleaning system, paving the way for a cleaner and safer future at sea.
