Over the past week, we tested the first Ford Lightning for snowplowing, and with the largest snowfall in almost 20 years in Bergen, we can confidently say this was a true test. KTV Group has ambitious plans to transition the entire vehicle fleet to electric cars, so it was very important to determine whether this would work.
This vehicle is imported, features a larger battery, and has a range of 550 km. The extra range is essential, and the vehicle performed exceptionally well. After 8 hours of operation, a 45-minute charging break is required, and then you’re ready to go again. The driving comfort was fantastic – and so quiet! Truly a rare experience.
The snowplowing quality was excellent and far superior to the Ford F150 gasoline model, which is a significant advantage for the Lightning. The vehicle felt safe and secure, and you don’t notice the weight of the salt in the same way as with gasoline or diesel vehicles.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for their understanding over the past week. Most companies involved in winter maintenance have been under significant pressure to maintain 24-hour operations over several days given the extreme weather conditions. Many new drivers operated snowplows for the first time, and a big thank you goes out to everyone who has worked hard during this period.
